
Stanford is the Top-Scoring Institution for Sustainability Under AASHE STARS 3.0
The university earns STARS Platinum in version 3.0, the highest score under the sustainability rating system.
The Office of Sustainability, PSSI, and R&DE represented Sustainable Stanford at the inaugural Event Planners Summit! The event, hosted by Stanford’s Event Planners Practitioners Community (EPPC), brought together event planners across campus to learn both the basics and specialized aspects of event planning.
There was a Beginner’s Track, for those new to event planning, and an Advanced Track where sustainable event planning practices were highlighted.
This session included top tips for planning a zero-waste event, like working with PSSI for proper bin ordering and placement and asking caterers to identify ways to reduce waste at events. Another top tip to reduce waste at events is to utilize waste bin monitors! Waste bin monitors are students who are hired to support your guests in how to sort their waste.
