Join Sustainable Stanford's journey
The university has reduced scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 80% from peak levels and is operating with 100% renewable electricity. In order to reach net zero emissions by 2050 and zero waste by 2030, Stanford continues to undertake major ongoing initiatives to reduce energy and water use, apply stringent environmental standards to all new buildings, encourage sustainable living, promote low-impact transportation, conserve natural resources, and decrease waste, even with continued campus growth. As the university continues to support its academic mission and mitigate its climate impact, Sustainable Stanford is committed to transparently sharing the journey, revealing lessons learned from triumphs and roadblocks alike in order to accelerate sustainability solutions across the world.
