Stanford University is transforming the cleaning industry through the adoption of an ozone-based cleaning system, Cardinal Clean, and received the Outstanding Waste Prevention Award for this innovation from the California Resource Recovery Association.
Cardinal Clean’s Impact
- Kills 99.99% of germs, viruses, and bacteria for 24 hours and turns to regular water after 7 days
- Prevents 2,140+ pounds of plastic cleaning chemical containers from being produced annually
- Has reduced chemical usage for cleaning by 90% (over 6,000 gallons a year)
- Is used in over 100 buildings on campus (over 6 million square feet)
