Music Makes Sustainability Stick for Stanford Elementary Students

As Nixon Elementary students filed into an early morning assembly at the start of the school year, the room buzzed with anticipation. Before long, students were singing and dancing along with “Eco-Bee,” the lively facilitator who used high-energy, kid-friendly environmental rap songs to show how everyday choices at school and at home impact the planet.

Sponsored by the County of Santa Clara, the “Eco-Hero” assembly combines music, movement, and memorable lyrics to introduce environmental values to some of our youngest learners, helping them build habits that support a more sustainable world.

By making the environmental lessons fun and memorable, the assembly reinforced practices that contribute to a more sustainable Stanford community while instilling environmental values that students can take with them as they grow.
