
Stanford is the Top-Scoring Institution for Sustainability Under AASHE STARS 3.0
The university earns STARS Platinum in version 3.0, the highest score under the sustainability rating system.
Over 200 student-driven solutions were developed to help normalize waste-sorting behavior and promote a zero waste campus culture.
These included apps and other technological solutions to gamify recycling, creative campus events (such as a fashion show showcasing second-hand items), and use of art to inspire change through murals and showcasing of pieces made from reclaimed materials. This course collaboration is a great example of pairing operations and academics to leverage the campus as a living lab for sustainability!
