To help celebrate Earth Day, the Office of Sustainability collaborated with the child care centers on campus to hold waste sorting trainings for teachers and staff and visits from PSSI’s waste truck for the children. All of the teachers take the responsibility of educating children very seriously, and our team is incredibly grateful to have them as green champions and mentors for our young learners on campus.
One particularly passionate teacher at Stanford Arboretum Children’s Center, Carol Richards, believes that the earlier we engage children about their relationship with the environment, the better. When Carol noticed an unused compost bin in the Arboretum Children’s Center, she developed a plan to engage the children about their carbon footprints and the three R’s: Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle.
Thank you to all the staff and teachers at Stanford’s child care centers for not only providing a great service to the community but also instilling the value of caring for our environment and inspiring young minds to think about environmental sustainability!
