Stanford is the Top-Scoring Institution for Sustainability Under AASHE STARS 3.0
The university earns STARS Platinum in version 3.0, the highest score under the sustainability rating system.
Students are a driving force behind improving campus sustainability and promoting change. A great example of students enacting change is the Stanford Carbon Offsets to Reduce Emissions (SCORE) initiative, in which students worked to fund the purchase of offsets for all varsity sports team air travel. The project’s partners included clubs Students for a Sustainable Stanford (SSS) and Stanford Students Environmental Consulting (SSEC), with additional support from the Athletics Department, the Office of Sustainability, and the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Science (now within the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability).
