The bi-annual lab equipment share has become a much anticipated event, and after the spring event was cancelled in the early days of the pandemic many were left hoarding their excess supplies. This fall, a virtual reuse fair safely enabled the lab community to share and seek common items and keep them out of the landfill. From October 5-15th, more than 1,000 items were posted on Stanford's ReUse website, with nearly 600 of those items claimed. Contactless delivery and proper sanitization of equipment prior to the exchange were critical requirements for anyone to participate. Stanford students, staff and faculty can continue to use the reuse site throughout the year to post unwanted items that are in usable condition. All items must be cleaned and disinfected prior to delivery or pick-up, and users must practice appropriate physical distancing, wearing of face coverings, and good hand hygiene around the transfer.
