Wednesday, January 31, 2018

Stanford was recognized in this year's Pac-12 Zero Waste competition, which challenges institutions to divert the maximum amount of waste from the landfill at a selected football and basketball game. Stanford's expanded tailgate initiatives led to an overall increase in football season waste diversion with the addition of 12 trios of dumpsters (recycling, compost and landfill) throughout tailgate areas. It was the first time recycling and compost have been collected, with 100 trios of supplementary bins distributed throughout the tailgate areas as well as in the stadium. Stanford was also recognized for overall investment in public education and volunteer engagement.
