Woman putting cup into compost

During the November 10th football game vs. Oregon State, Stanford competed against other Pac-12 schools in the Pac-12 Zero Waste Bowl. Stanford’s waste sorting efforts at this game culminated in about 1.5 tons of recyclables and one ton of compostables collected, plus one ton of food donated to local homeless shelters, leading to an overall 46% diversion rate from the stadium. Thanks to initiatives like new compostable concessions items and fan engagement activities, Stanford’s stadium diversion rates continue to increase each season—up from a 33% diversion rate last year. Learn more about Cardinal Green Athletics.
