Facilities Energy Management and Buildings and Grounds Management teams have been piloting a new building analytics tool--Clockworks--to proactively identify energy saving and maintenance opportunities. The tool streamlines building operations through the automated processing of thousands of data points. Access to building data such as energy usage and equipment status is not something new, though analyzing it without tools like Clockworks is manual and laborious and can be inaccurate. This tool is being tested on five buildings on the main academic campus as well as Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Arrillaga Family Sports Center, four buildings on the Redwood City Campus, and Lokey Stem Cell Research Building. The tool is already starting to yield value in detecting HVAC problems that are raising energy usage.
