Individual building EUI steadily reduced from efficiency strategies

Wednesday, September 13, 2017

Energy Use Intensity (EUI) in many Stanford office and laboratory buildings has significantly decreased with use of energy efficient equipment and technology upgrades. Improvements such as LED lighting, lighting controls, efficient office equipment, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technologies have decreased energy use intensity in some office buildings by more than 70%, while Stanford’s energy-intensive lab spaces have reduced energy use by a similar amount with improvements to lab equipment and zone heating and cooling. Conserving energy is prioritized through the use of strategies designed to reduce the electricity and heating load of the building while improving temperature control and comfort.
