Celebrating Sustainability - Earth Week

April 22nd marks the national celebration of Earth Day, and represents a remarkable legacy for the university. The inaugural event was organized across the nation by Stanford alum Denis Hayes. Decades later, we continue to honor this legacy and use the opportunity to reflect on sustainability as a core value at Stanford, as well as the integral role we each play in making that vision a reality.

Earth Month 2024

Earth Month 2024 at Stanford was a vibrant celebration of sustainability, climate action, and environmental justice. The month featured an exciting lineup of events, from thought-provoking film screenings like Katrina Babies and Above Water to engaging discussions on climate justice and water sustainability. Highlights included the much-anticipated return of Earth Tones, the Love Our Earth Festival’s interactive community activities, and the unveiling of Lake Lagunita, a milestone in Stanford’s environmental restoration efforts. Students, faculty, and staff also came together for hands-on initiatives like the Service Day in the Arizona Cactus Garden. With conversations on civic engagement, sustainable irrigation, and Stanford’s Climate Action Plan, Earth Month 2024 inspired action and collaboration toward a more sustainable future

Earth Week 2023

Sustainable Stanford hosted various events to celebrate Earth Day and raise awareness individual sustainability commitments, zero waste, well-being, and more! Event highlights include Sustainabili-tea at Meyer Green and Redwood City, Sustainability Through Art at the Anderson Collection, a Water Conservation webinar, and a Conservation Day at the Cactus Garden. Campus partners also hosted a climate-smart dining webinar (R&DE) and a Stanford Healthcare Earth Day Fair. Check out the photos from this year's Earth Week below!
