Rebates
ERP Incentive Funds for Virtualization
Stanford's Facilities and Energy Management group runs the Energy Retrofit Program (ERP) whose goal it is to help schools and departments reduce their energy use. Through August 2013, the ERP program will provide rebates to schools or departments that use virtualization to remove physical servers from Stanford buildings.
- For each server removed, Stanford pays approximately $650 (assumes single core server using 225w/server removed).
- For each server added (e.g. infrastructure), Stanford subtracts approximately $1,957 (assumes 675 w/server added)
- Incentives can also be calculated using name-plate energy use for all servers, which may yield a higher incentive if the servers removed use significantly more energy, or servers added use significantly less energy than above.
